Artybird by Donna Lynch

Donna Lynch is a textile and mixed-media artist based in rural County Derry.

Drawing on her textile background, Donna 'paints with wool'. Combining wet and dry felting using hand-dyed wools, then layering in hand embroidery and free-machine stitching to create rich textures.

Inspiration comes from the Irish rural landscape that inspired Seamus Heaney, where her studio is located. The meadows, hedgerows, coastline and Ogham script all inform her art.

Tactile stories of place, often reference Donnas love of the Irish language. A collection highlight is the series of embroidered Ogham framed works that make perfect gifts. Artybird is an ideal choice for that heart felt connection to HOME.

Donna Lynch has a BA in Fashion and Textiles, a Masters in Applied Arts and is a Further Education lecturer in Art and Design. Her practice merges academic insight with hands-on craft excellence.
