Our Makers
Number 19 craft and design is proud to champion a curated collective of independent makers, artists, and designers from across Ireland and beyond.
Arty Bird
Textile artist Donna Lynch, is the beating heart behind, Artybird.
She creates work from her cozy studio in rural County Derry—right in the heart of Seamus Heaney’s inspiring landscapes.
Donna “paints with wool,” blending wet and dry felting with hand-dyed sheep’s wool, then adds personal touches of hand embroidery and machine stitch adding texture and ensuring distinctive depth and character.
The wild beauty of Irish fields, blooming meadows, hedgerows, and coastlines, Irish symbols, ogham and Donegal tweeds, all weave into her story of merging tradition with contemporary expression.
Every piece is one-of-a-kind, a unique treasure born from her hands.
Bridie Mullin
Growing up in Ireland, Bridie Mullin was captivated with local textiles from an early age. Her ancestors worked in the nearby linen mills and her early life on a farm meant sewing was an enjoyable yet essential part of rural life.
This first-hand experience of turning raw materials into something beautiful fostered a lifelong career designing and teaching textile studies.
These hand-made garments are designed to last; striking in their elegant simplicity, functionality and quiet aesthetic.
Using only 100% Irish linen, the Bridie Mullin label balances chic minimalism with sartorial craftsmanship. The creations are worn by high profile clients.

Fiona Herbst
Fiona Herbst Jewellery is art in the form of jewellery—vibrant, expressive, and unapologetically unique. Made primarily from polymer clay.
Every piece is designed and handmade in Donegal, inspired by the wild Atlantic landscape with its rich textures, bold form and ever-changing colours.
Unbound by the traditions of commercial jewellery, Fiona creates bold, contemporary designs that speak with their own voice. Each piece invites the wearer to celebrate individuality, make a statement, and carry a piece of Donegal’s spirit wherever they go.
Kellee Cottage Crafts

Lichen Ceramics
Bairbre Kennedy returned to Leitrim in 2016 and set up Lichen Ceramics which allowed her to make the kind of ceramics that she wanted to be able to make.
One of the ethos of her work is " Functional ceramics should fulfill its function without being limited by it."
Bairbre draws inspiration from her childhood home on the banks of the Shannon and the hills of North Leitrim where she is based now.
Bairbre creates her pottery in small batches so there is always variety and subtle differences in her work. From the textured work using the wild clay dug from the Leitrim hills. To the graffito drawings showing her love of animation.
Not all her work is Functional as she exhibited at Sculpture in Contex 2025 in the Botanical Gardens in Dublin.
Marian Walker
Marian is a self-taught artist who paints in oils, acrylics and mixed media. Her work may be found in homes across
the world.
Marian presents vivid representations of local landscapes in her fine art, in which her work evokes a deep sense of connection with the magic and delicate beauty of the Irish landscape.
Marians abstract work speak to the inner landscapes of emotion, energy, imagination, and the spirit within.
Marian has exhibited in local venues in her hometown of Derry. She has also taught in local community arts programmed and has her work displayed in one of the local hotels in town.
Maureen McGhee
Maureen began her love of design and creating jewellery as a student of Grennan Mill Craft School, Thomastown, Co. Kilkenny in 1981.
Her love of metals, copper and silver, is reflected in each piece of handmade
jewellery she creates in her studio in Derry.
She combines the technique of colouring metals naturally with her
creativity to create elegant and wearable pieces of jewellery in her own
distinctive style.
As a ‘wee girl’ Maureen could be found helping out in the family store and today is an experienced and proactive member of Number 19 Craft and design in the heart of Derry city.
Robert Spotten
Roberts collections are based on nature, space and water. He is a Silver and Goldsmith. His main work comes from special commissions for engagement and wedding rings, and gifts for special occasions. Here at Number 19 Craft and design is an opportunity to collect a piece designed and made by Robert.
Roberts ethos is that of creating pieces that the customer enjoys wearing, keeps and passes on to the next generation. It is not everyone who has made a brooch for Queen Elizabeth II afterall!
Strombolitwo
Helen Perry is the designer-maker of Strombolitwo based in the countryside of County Londonderry.
Created from up-cycled Japanese kimono silks accompanied at times by linen trims and unique decorative items.
Helen draws inspiration from her earlier Sydney based fashion design label Stromboli Apparel, where her clothing ranges featured natural fabrics silks, linen and cotton as well as
collaborations with a kimono fabric artist. Deeper joy and inspiration
comes from the textures, draping and patterns of these distinctive fabrics and the way light reflects and moves through them.
Helen runs workshops in community venues for a wide range of age and ability creating themed textile pieces and story-telling quilts and adults.
Commissions are always welcome for weddings and special events.
